Opposition
Do we reject or welcome it?
Opposition is definitely something that
we will receive within our lives.
The question with opposition
is what form does it take,
but also what is the
motivation behind it?
Some opposition within life
is essential to have.
What I mean here is that
without opposition certain
things could not be properly done.
Just take for example politics;
without any opposition whatsoever,
how could politics be actually
beneficial to the populous?
In sport with many events
without an opposition
there would be no point
to the actual event
and no sense of achievement
to any.
In things that we do sometimes
though, opposition can
be negative and can very often
do more harm than good
It can cause us to sometimes
cease to do a good work.
It can cause us to question ourselves;
it can cause mental and emotional harm as well.
How do we deal with
opposition though?
Think of Jesus;
how much opposition did he receive
throughout his earthly life?
He received opposition without cause,
he received opposition when
he healed the sick,
he received opposition when
he raised the dead.
Jesus received opposition
also from speaking the truth,
through the Pharisees, Sadducees
and teachers of the law;
they could not accept the truth and
so they opposed it.
Jesus though, was true to what he said;
he, even when opposition came
did not give in, did not change
but continued to be who he was.
We ourselves should learn from this,
and learn from him and
take the example he set for us
when we ourselves receive opposition.
We need to be in all things
more like him.
