Defeat
Living through Defeat
One of the things that everyone loves
is to be victorious in life,
to overcome all obstacles
and to never experience
any type of defeat.
Unfortunately this is never
what happens to us,
in our professional lives,
in our personal lives
and also in our activities
within the church.
We can know defeat in
whatever area of work we
may be in,;we can also
know defeat at home
with our families and friends.
Defeat can leave us feeling
frustrated, helpless, annoyed
and in some cases bitter.
This depends on what kind
of defeat we have experienced.
If it is through something
that we were hoping for,
then this can bring an
emotional reaction that
generally is not always positive.
Jesus from what we see
of him and read about him
in the bible,
never seemed to ever experience,
or know defeat in any way,
shape or form.
The cross though, could and
still is by many seen as his
greatest defeat.
This though of course is not the truth.
The cross was his greatest victory.
There were occasions within
the life of Jesus though,
when things did not always go
as he would of liked or hoped.
There were many times
when people turned away from
him, even those who were
his disciples, but not
amongst the twelve.
Jesus coped with this
through always remaining
faithful to the Father,
obedient to the Father and
steadfast in his mission.
What we have to learn to
do within our lives,
that is in all areas of our lives.
Is to realise that we will experience
defeat from time to time.
To learn to trust in God more,
for strength to cope
when we do know defeat.
Then also, to actually in
all areas of life, to
learn from that defeat.
Let us in all ways and times
turn to God more when
we experience any defeat
and he will help us
through it.
