Kingship
What do you think of royalty?
For some this is
a question that is
controversial, for
others it can be irrelevant.
There are still countries
that have royalty, either
as a figurehead or
as an acting ruler.
Within some countries there
can be a debate as to
whether it is in
the countries best
interests to keep them as such.
Some see them in different
ways, which can cause
friction between
their differing viewpoints.
What of the Church? How
do we, or how should
we see royalty?
We of course have a
different perspective of
royalty than those
who are not Christians.
Some Christians may
live in a nation with royalty
and others without,
regardless of this.
As Christians we all
have a King.
Jesus of course is our
King, he is the King above
all others. He is
the King that was
promised, first to
the Israelites,
then to those who
would come to know him.
He is the perfect King,
in every possible area;
he contains within him
the qualities that all
in authority should aspire to.
Throughout eternity we will
know him as King, and yet
through what he did for us upon
the cross, we ourselves have been
adopted into his family.
This goes beyond our understanding,
as we accept it as fact but cannot
understand the fullness of this.
Adoption comes by and through the son, but
the adoption itself is under
and by the Father.
So when we think of Kings or
Queens who still now are in
place, let us remember that
we ourselves have been adopted
into royalty.
This is a great message to help all Christians acknowledge and understand their importance in the family of God, we all have our parts to play.
