Our Thoughts

 What do we think about?

 Our minds are amazing;
they can solve complex puzzles,
they can calculate equations,
they can recall information
from many years before.

Our minds are always in
some way active.
They contain within them
what makes us as we are.

Each individuals' way of
processing information
can be slightly different, and
how we think of an individual
event or person also may not be
the same as even our closest
relative or friend.

But within our minds, what do
we choose to dwell upon?
We all have time within our
lives to think and consider
a great many different things.

We have time to allow our
minds to wander onto things
which may not even be productive
or good for us.

As Christians we need to realise
that many battles are fought,
won and lost in our minds.
There are battles with ourselves,
battles with worry and fear,
battles with sin and
even battles with God.

Sin is something we should not
seek to dwell upon as thought
can also then lead to action.
But then, besides
obvious and recognisable sinful
thinking, there is also subtle sin,
which is not so easy to realise we
are entertaining.

How do we think in the right way?
But is there a right way of thinking?
Thoughts come and go, the
main problem is when we entertain
harmful thoughts, bad thoughts,
jealous thoughts, covetous and many more.

We need to learn to think
more as the bible teaches us,
which is never always easy when
we face difficult and
challenging situations.

It takes submission to do this,
submitting your thoughts, that is
your natural thought reactions.
Learning not to dwell on them, but
considering what the bible says,
which takes time and effort,
which we will never fully
get right.

But do not let yourself worry
when you do fall into a negative
thought process, as
God understands; he just want to
help us in all ways
to be more like him.
