Gentleness

 How Gentle are we?

This is something that we perhaps
rarely think about or
reflect upon.

Gentleness though is a quality
that is essential within our lives.
It should be applied
to our minds, yet
also it should be applied to
our actions and
also to our speech.

Yet gentleness is also
a thing that we do not always
use when we should.
How many situations that we
have encountered in our past
where employing gentleness
rather than our natural reaction
would have helped the circumstances?

A gentle word or a gentle
guiding hand is far better in many
situations than the opposite which
can make matters far worse.

How many times have we
ourselves been upset or
angered through a harsh word
or action?

Within church life, when we
are guided or disciplined or we
ourselves give these to
others, gentleness should and
must always be used, otherwise
any guidance would be
ignored, and any discipline rejected.

Jesus was always gentle
with those he needed to be
gentle with, and he used a firm hand with
those who exploited others
and taught them incorrect teachings
of the law.

God with us is gentle in
how he wants us to be
more like Jesus, in how he
wants us to move forward into
applying all we read in the bible
into our lives.

So then let us ourselves
also then be gentle in
how we are with people,
let us apply gentleness to
our actions our minds and
our speech.

Let us live our lives
so that the gentleness of God
is daily seen in us.

  1. Yes, we all need a gentle touch from God in our lives that will help us be more like him and show loving kindness to those around us.
